Summary of 2019

2019 has been a big year for TotalDECOM, with a series of partnerships with industry leaders and successful events; we are ecstatic to throwback to a great year and look forward to the next year coming.

This year we collaborated with the NDA and OGA to create a collection of workshops and resulting webinars.  These webinars and workshops covered a variety of cross industry topics, including Technical Innovation, Cost and Schedule and Cross Industry Standards. Hosted by Karl Sanderson, Head of Cross Sector Learning for th NDA and sprung from a commitment from David Peattie, Chief Executive of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority and Nils Cohrs, Head of Decommissioning Oil and Gas Authority to look at Cross Sector opportunities to help solve complex problems across the sectors.

Our TotalDECOM members also made some fantastic strides over the course of the first year. Catax announced a fourth service...remediation of contaminated land. It was a huge year for AECOM who signed an agreement with Toshiba to perform nuclear decommissioning services in Japan. They were also selected by AWE plc to deliver a key project as part of the U.K’s nuclear deterrence program worth millions.

The international market for the decommissioning sector is enormous. TotalDECOM have been building a flagship international conference and supply chain exhibition event, since 2014 and continue to build on their success. Our flagship event attracted high level and supply chain organisations over the three day event:

  • Monday 29 April 2019: Grand Networking Dinner
  • Tuesday 30 April 2019: International Keynote Conference
  • Wednesday 1 May 2019: LLWR Integrated Waste Management Conference
  • Wednesday 1 May 2019: Presentation Theatres, 1 to 1’s, Exhibition and more.

The UK Space Agency was in attendance and presented, as well as EDF exhibiting. Some more of our attendees included; International Government, Sellafield Limited, TEPCO, Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power, TUV Nord, WYG Group, Aecom, Achilles, ATS Group, Digital Edge Subsea, LLW Repository Ltd, LTi Metaltech, Morgan Sindall, Nuclear AMRC and Orano.

TotalDECOM also hosts regional supply chain events. This year we went to Leeds to host our supply chain events on topics like SMART Demolition. We also rearranged our Decontamination Solutions Leeds event for early 2020 so more details for this will come soon.

It’s been a great year to work for the DECOM industry. TotalDECOM has experienced our best year to date, and plan to continue growing and developing with membership feedback and event successes as we have done since 2014.

We hope you will join us in 2020 for an even bigger and better TotalDECOM.
